Question:
any advice for an interview for FB data scientist (analytics) role
Asked on 2021-01-11 05:50 by H L.

Hi all!
I have a technical/product sense interview with FB soon and am starting to prepare.  Has anyone went through their interview process and/or have any helpful tips to provide?  i,e best way to prepare, key concepts to keep in mind, etc.

On a related note, has anyone used services that provide Mock interview (If you google FAANG Mock interview, there's a lot out there)?  I'm curious if you feel these services are "worth it".  Obviously, if the salary increase outweighs the cost, then the answer is yes....but I'm just curious if anyone has experience with any of them.

I can't vouch for any of the services out there now. Most of them don't share much information on their websites either, so I'm a bit skeptical about them.

What I have found helpful in the past is roleplaying interviews with a friend, and specifically having them ask me common questions around data science and analytics. This list is a good, comprehensive example.

That being said, we've also been exploring providing help via remote coaching. I'll send you an email with some information on what we've been thinking.

Thanks Wojciech.  I also agree that role playing/Mock interview is the most helpful.  For this one, I’ve been perusing Glassdoor quite a bit and there is surprisingly a lot of stuff online and even on YouTube, so I’ll definitely focus on as many resources as I can.  I actually have a Mock interview set up almost every other day leading up to the interview, so I think at the end of the day,  no matter what, I wont have any regrets about preparation.

P.S,  something that I actually did very differently this time around, was I asked the internal recruiter who reached out to me, whether she was willing to do a mock interview with me.  Surprisingly,  she said yes.  I dont know why I never thought to do this, but in my mind, that has to be a good thing.....right? To have someone on the “inside” to give you feedback. I’ll report back and let you all know how this opportunity turns out!

That's great! Yes, if a recruiter or hiring manager is willing to do this, then I can't see why you shouldn't spend the time with them. Always worth asking. Good luck!
