Question:
Feedback request! Should we enable threads to have link-only submissions?
Asked on 2021-02-04 02:32 by Rachel W.
Hi there! We've noticed people submit links to recent data science articles, announcements, etc. We love this! It's such a good way to keep up to date with what is going on in the space.
With that in mind, we wanted to get your thoughts: should we enable link-only submissions? These would be posts that only contain a link to another site. We'll still support discussions here, but it'll be similar to how you can see posts on Reddit (links or discussions).
What do you think?

Response #1By Michelle W. on 2021-02-04 15:50For what it's worth, the last few posts with links (financial summarization, brain-neural network correlations, etc.) have been really interesting. I don't have much to say about those topics but I do enjoy reading them and <3 on the site. I like the idea!!

Having a link only post will probably lessen the engagement, but I dont think that’s necessarily a bad thing. It just means that people are clicking the link and may be just dont come back to comment on it (which they dont need to).
I think the community here is close enough that we dont have to worry about spamming.

I can see the benefit but I also think people posting in the comment body is A-OK
